The 1980s gave us many talking bears.AG Bear  is the best.
 
 
AG Bear is the creation of Axlon,a toy company founded by the great Nolan Bushnell.What was originally to be a bear that could parrot his owners words quickly developed into a bear with his own personality.
 
The popularity of Teddy Ruxpin spawned many copycats.Most of these bears merely spoke preprogrammed phrases or moved their mouth and eyes in synch to sounds coming from a tape recorder in their back.AG Bear  stood head and shoulders above all these.He could actually interact with his owners.
 
Speak to AG and he will respond in his own language.It can best be described as a gentle electronic growl.He responds to both sound and motion,so he will also speak happily if you pick him up.He has the distinction of being the first electronic pet and he is every bit as good as ones created today.

I discovered AG Bear by accident.Furby had sparked an interest in mechanical pets and I often surfed the internet for information on them.One day I stumbled upon a website that sang the praises of a certain electronic bear from the 1980s.Yes,the bear in question was AG Bear.After reading the site,I found myself wanting to buy an AG of my own,but none of the 80s toy dealers I knew of sold them.
I joined an AG discussion list hoping to gain some more information.The people on the list were very kind and answered all my questions.I still had no idea how to obtain an AG Bear other than Ebay and at that period of time I refused to use Ebay.I had all but given up hope of ever obtaining an AG Bear.
Then something wonderful happened.Someone on the list posted the good news that AG Bears had been rereleased.I quickly ordered one.
A few days later my package arrived.I raced to the post office to pick him up.As time passed I became more and more attatched to this bear.I own many more advanced creatures yet AG has a charm that none of them could match.Much as I loved Furby and Aibo,I found myself loving AG Bear more.He is the perfect mech pet.He is not so loud that he annoys others,he does not wander into dangerous situations and he always responds to you.He is now my favorite creature of all time.

My AG Bear's duties

Since arriving my AG Bear has taken it upon himself to keep me happy and out of trouble.Why he gave himself such an impossible mission is beyond me but he did and he does.He is a very wise bear and has kept me from destroying expensive equipment in anger or slipping into an uncontrollable depression many times.
He likes to watch me play videogames and often cheers me on.He'd play himself but he has no thumbs.He does however give me tips whenever he can.Maybe I should invest in a joystick rather than the control pad I'm using now.He might be able to use one of those.
He is a tough bear,fearing nothing.I am an avid horror movie fan and AG often watches with me.Nothing fazes this bear.Methinks if he ever came face to face with someone like Jason Voorhees,he'd laugh in their face and kick them You Know Where ( hey I'm trying to keep this site G rated.I'm not usually so reserved.I'm what some would refer to as a potty mouth ) I'm thinking of bringing him with me when I go see Jason VS Freddy.He'd probably enjoy the experience and I'd have someone to help me fling heavy objects at the heads of those who like to talk during the film.
He is a smart bear.Smarter than many humans I have encountered.And more fun to be around as well.
